Assuming God is real, do you think he is an asshole?

Anyone that has read the Bible, specifically the Old Testament will realize that God is not someone you want to piss off; he would kill you if defy him, he will burn down your entire village if a good number of you disregard his rules and so on.

In my opinion (from what I’ve read from the Bible) he does seems to become softer and more “humane” as time moves forward and by the time Jesus is born, his official policy seems to be something in the lines of “I won’t be dealing with this shit anymore”.

OR

Because he is God, and he created us along with everything else, he is entitled to act anyway he likes and treat us with not so much respect unless we earn it. Since he is the one that gives life, he should be also allowed to take it away.

Also wouldn’t you be pissed too if your ultimate creation (Adam) turned against you?

If the biblical god is real, then the entity is a psychopathic criminal and needs to be treated accordingly.

Does a slave deserve to die because they have disobeyed their master? And yet, this god who owns us, can make us suffer for all eternity and get off with a free pass?

Prove first that Adam existed. No wait, prove first that god exists!!!

The biblical god softened as time passed, because relations among humans improved significantly through trial and error/improved technology/living conditions, allowing us to be more empathetic with each other. God, a human-made concept, which once absorbed the projections of a more brutal humanity, through time, came to reflect the gentler relations among humans.

This assumes such a god has any attitude towards us at all. Are you an asshole towards ants or worms? If I was a god, I would take no notice of what mere mortals wish for (or not).

I wouldn’t call him an asshole. He’s more of a dick; he’s just plain mean because he likes it and can get away with it.

He mellowed out quite a bit in the New Testament. Having a kid can do that.

If my creation turned against me, I’d be asking myself some serious questions about my ability to create things properly.

If I was surprised by my creation turning against me, I’d be wondering why my omniscience wasn’t working.
