The reason Ouija boards seem to work is because of the ideomotor effect — your body can make movements so small that you’re not consciously aware of them. That means you’re the one doing the pushing, not the 'spirits’.

The proof of this is that if you blindfold people at a Ouija board, the board spells out garbage.

No.

But they can be a lot of fun. At least they were when I was 12.

Penn & Teller did an episode of “Bullshit” about them. They blindfolded the participants and then turned to board upside down. The participants moved the planchette to where the text would be if the board was right-side up. Their trick fooled not only the people, but the spirits as well.

Do I believe that a person, or particularly a group of people, pushing a pointer around an alphabet on a board might subconsciously manage to guide it to the letters of a real word or name? Yes.

Do I believe that ghosts or demons are spelling words through users of ouija boards? No, because I don’t believe in either of those entities.
