In school we were talking about Christianity and I told my teacher that I didn’t believe in God and people made fun of me. Is there something wrong about being an atheist?

Somewhere between 10% and 15% of Americans are non-religious, though they tend to be clustered in cities and many are silently non-religious because of the kind of reaction that you saw.

In France, where I live, there are more non-believers than believers. In America, there are more believers than non-believers.
Though religious believers have no trouble in being religious in France, atheists do have trouble lacking god belief in America.
No, there is nothing wrong in being an atheist. An atheist lacks nothing that a theist has. An atheist can live a happy, fulfilled, and productive life.
If Christians make fun of you, just use their belief system to make them squirm a bit by telling them they are not being very Christian making fun of you!
There are many atheist groups all through the world. If you need support, find one so you can be with people who won’t ever make fun of your lack of god belief.
