Do you allow the possibility that psychic mediums really do talk with the dead? Surely they cannot all be fraudsters, delusional or misguided?

I allow the possibility that some people can talk to the dead. I don’t believe that any of them do though, because if psychic ability was real I would have expected us to have accumulated a strong body of evidence in support of it by now, and we haven’t.

I hope the questioner allows the possibility that all so-called psychics are in fact either fraudsters, delusional or misguided.

I allow for the possibility, but not any kind of likelihood.

Yes, unfortunately all “media” can be either lying or wrong. There is no evidence of any method of communicating with the dead, or even the continued existence of the dead themselves in any form that can be communicated with, and centuries’ worth of self-proclaimed psychics have failed to rectify this.

There’s no way to be certain that it’s impossible, but if it were a real phenomenon, you’d think someone would have managed to properly establish the fact by now.

Just because anything can be possible, does not mean that any time should be wasted on highly improbable possibilities wondering if they could be possible.

Sure there could be a god, there could be this or that, or anything that we can conjure up, it is all possible. So what? That is not how we progressed in accumulating our usable and valuable knowledge base. We progressed by identifying and keeping the valid information, while discarding the false leads, resulting in information that informs and deepens our understanding of reality.

Humans were born without a operating manual. Therefore, we are writing one ourselves based on validated information. That is why regarding the Bible as being a source of usable knowledge or such an operating manual is a joke.

Because of the time spent in investigating stuff that is incredibly improbable, these people lose by not focusing on the fantastic information that is coming out regarding reality. Imagination and fantasy can certainly be a base for discovering authentic knowledge but it must be reined in by being filtered through the scientific method to ensure that it is truly the real stuff.

Humans live in the middle world, not the micro or the macro which means that we must be so careful to ascertain what reality is. No need to be so open-minded that your brains fall out.

En bref, how long are you going to wait to realize that if by now psychic mediums are unable to prove their beliefs, they never will? Such patience is the patience of a sucker, a sucker living without a baloney detection kit.

No.

They’ve had millennia to provide some proof, and have failed miserably.

That could change overnight, if someone could really, honestly prove they did it. But after all this time, that’s highly improbable.

I allow the possibility of just about anything. I just withhold belief until there is sufficient evidence of a character equally extraordinary to that of the claim.
